The story continues.....

Well, lets see now. I can end one story. The karate class for my granddaughter ended up being canceled because the instructor canceled out. Since she won a scholarship to it, they traded it in for a dance class instead. So she's happy and hopefully THIS instructor will show up.

We are still waiting for the driving record to be mailed. My son is still working, but everything is sort of at a stand-still for the time being. In other words, they have not ordered his work uniforms yet. It sure doesn't give him a feeling that they think everything is going to turn out ok.

I hired someone to paint my bathroom since its been in limbo for months now. Again, I remember my mother's words echoing in my brain.....you get what you pay for. No truer words were ever spoken. I didn't pay an arm and a leg but he did come highly recommended......however, after this performance, I wouldn't let him paint a doghouse. I really don't think he had that much experience. Why.....when I actually bought and handed him a roll of tape, would he paint the window and not put the tape on the glass to keep it clean. I did not notice it until they left....I was so happy they were leaving. A few hour job turned into a two-day job. The glass is frosted and pebbly.....not smooth at all. I'm not sure how I can get the paint off.....any suggestions? A razor will not work.

Anyway, he made mistakes and the woodwork all had to be repainted because he painted it the wrong color. I'm not real sure if he understood English. I'm not saying this to be mean....I'm just sayin'. This, of course, took up a lot more time. I don't think that the guy who recommended him to me was pleased with him at all. HA. He has to stand in line for that one. I don't think anyone was more displeased than me. But.....it did finally end up pretty good. I like the effect and the mistakes that were made are ones I think I can correct without too much trouble.

So I'm going to buy a new curtain and maybe a new shower curtain if the colors of my old one fight with my new wall colors. And that means I will have to get a new rug too. I have wallpaper border picked out online. If its as pretty when I actually see it, it will go perfect. The border will hide some mistakes too. It just keeps snowballin'. I can't wait for it to all come together though and it sure will be nice to have a pretty bathroom again. I am getting a vent fan installed in a couple weeks and then it will officially finished. Pictures will follow.

I'm still off the Diet Pepsi. I am drinking Pepsi One with Splenda instead. My post on aspertame encouraged me to keep checking about the stuff and there is a lot about it online. All in all, I think most people realize that this chemical really isn't good for you. All but one of my commenters seemed to be impressed by the article. We drink it and hope that nothing bad happens to us....but everyone is different and it can affect some adversely. I'm going to try what one website suggested and stay off of aspertame for 60 days and see what happens. I have nothing to lose but......hopefully.....my pain. In 60 days, I'll let you know if I can dirty dance again.

Oh....one more thing....if you have a few minutes, check this video out. Its true and its about the company who invented aspertame....yep, that's right, Monsanto. This video, I'm sure, is just the tip of the iceberg.....eh, Brad?

Colors, colors, everywhere.....

I finally trudged to the store and bought painting supplies and then proceeded to pick out the colors I wanted to use in my bathroom. For over an hour I messed with this, looking at no less than 39,000 colors and brands of paint, not to mention, the METHOD of application I wanted to use. After agonizing over this color and that I finally made my choice. And....of course....are you ready for this... or are you ahead of me and have guessed what I'm about the say. Yep, you're right. Out of all those 39,000 colors and varieties of paints, they are out of the VERY ONE that I picked. It will be restocked by Tuesday evening, I'm told.

I'm not surprised at this at all. Matter of fact, I would have been effing DISAPPOINTED if it had turned out any other way. This, my friends....is the way my life seems to go. But I've learned to just go with the flow. It'll all work out in the end.

After leaving that store, I did manage to find some DVD's on sale for only $5 at Wacky-mart. I bought several very good ones. My grandson was laughing like crazy at me riding around in their little shopping go-carts. This is the only way to shop as far as I'm concerned. Although I didn't tell him that the last time I was there the darn cart's battery went dead with me at the far end of the store. It managed to get me to the check out counter but a snail could have moved faster. I just considered myself lucky that I didn't have to walk all that way. So now I make sure I get one that's nicely charged up. Hope you all had a memorable Sunday.

Things that make me cranky.....

- A person who constantly interrupts

- Having to wait in line for a long time

- Phone or door-to-door solicitors

- Finding the toilet paper roll empty or with only one square left on it

- Milk carton in fridge with only a teaspoon of milk left in it

- Junk mail

- Natural citizens who assault the English language

- Anyone with a wad of gum the size of Manhattan in their mouth

- Being hungry

- Commercials that come on TV twice as loud as the program you’re watching

- Borrowed things that aren’t returned

- Unfinished projects

So, I will stop here with the last thing on this list and comment about that one, even though Lord knows I have more things that make me cranky. I asked my son ….oh, I don’t know….maybe 2 months ago…. about redoing my bathroom. The wallpaper had seen MUCH better days and I wanted it taken down, the walls prepped and then painted. Well, he started on it one day while I was at work as a surprise to me. I came home to a MESS. Only one wall had been worked on and it was only half done. But the bathroom had been emptied of everything. I had some cube shelves in there for my towels and washcloths and also some bath products. The very top of the shelves held a basket with my makeup, so positioned because of my two little granddaughters who just LOVE to get into grandma’s makeup. All the things I had hanging on the walls were gone, including some decorative shelves and another one that’s used to hang the blow drier and curling iron. Now I want you to imagine someone taking all the little things you use to get ready for the day every day and putting them in another room in various boxes. That, in itself, is bad enough….but multiply the number of days that things are ‘out of place’ to equal more than a month and your mood meter just goes off the chart. I have to HUNT for almost everything and its gotten on my last nerve. I finally had to get on to him about finishing this job before I curled up in a fetal position in the corner.

So he worked on it the last few days and I watched my granddaughter while he was doing this. (A major reason why I have not been online much.) The paper finally was off all the walls and when I saw them, I remembered why I papered them in the first place….oh so many years ago. They were not in such good shape….screw holes where old towel racks had once hung and uneven places where the wall had been repaired by previous owners. Wallpaper hides a myriad of flaws. So, the walls are finally spackled and prepped and are awaiting the paint, which I have yet to pick out a color. I could go with anything since the ceramic tile floor is white and the tile around the shower area is a light gray. My shower curtain has a white background with pastel blue and pink. I really don’t want to replace it. I was thinking of LIGHT mauve walls. Maybe in a faux finish. You do know how this ‘simple’ little redo can snowball, don’t you?
