and the tears came.....

This is an update. After me feeling sorry for myself and saying that I'd be getting no presents....my son surprised me tonight. He gave me a gold ring that says MOM on it. Has a little heart for the O in mom with diamond cutting on it. He's been paying for it a little at a time. I was so surprised....I broke down and cried. This really did affect me in a profound way. I needed that at this time. I really did.

Oh yeah.....and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only mom who stashes goodies. LOL

Those are always the best presents....the ones you didn't expect and the fact that he paid for it a little at a time was so thoughtful. You deserve a nice surprise like that!

Isn't it amazing how our kids can melt our hearts with their loving gestures at the most unexpected moments?! I've had mine do similar things, them having no knowledge of how badly I needed that affirmation at the moment. You will treasure that ring as if it were priceless, because it is! BTW, I don't think it's bad at all of you to hide your basket of goodies. It make me smile because it is something I would have done when my kids were home. We need to treat ourselves a little now and then too! Moms should not always "go to the end of the line". Now my daughter and son-in-law hide their share of cookies I send from each other, to make sure they each get their fare share! :-)

Good morning, Val:

When thought and effort accompanies love in gift-giving, the effect can be extremely emotionally powerful. Congratulations and enjoy your Christmas gift--and may your Christmas be that much more meaningful!

Be well.

Val, I know just exactly how much you needed that. Believe me. And I am so happy that you got it---just the thought is making me smile.

Our children really do surprise us sometimes, don't they?

You deserve it.

Merry Christmas. :)

Couldn't remember if I left m'silly Christmas present here....

Starts with a bowl of wee fish
next there's baby lamb (ewe)
then a female horse, a mare
Two great blue herons, egrets
and a moose, Bullwinkle if you please.
Repeat that three times and note the ear hopping along the ground and you have:
wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose

and a hoppy new ear!

HO HO HO
