There's still some good businesses out there.....

Sigh....my poor daughter. It seems like if she has any luck at all, its bad luck. If hard times build character, then she's got to have more character than anyone I know.

The other day its cold and pouring down rain....just the kind of day you want to hunker down by the fire and not even put your nose out the door. She looks outside and sees, to her dismay, that her front tire is horribly low....almost flat. Well, she has an appointment the next day and figures if she doesn't go get some air in that tire that it will be totally flat by then. She gets herself and her 6 year old bundled up and calls me to tell me that she's going to go get some air in her tire and she'll call again when she's home. If I don't hear from her in a reasonable length of time....then it means she's stranded and to please come rescue her. I remind her that most places charge for air now....which I think is absolutely shameful.....but that's another subject for another time. Then, being the sage mom that I am....I recommend that she run up to Belle Tire and just have them look at it. It has to be losing air for a reason and maybe its got a nail in it or something. If it runs into something expensive I can put it on my good ole charge card. She agrees and heads out.

After a while she calls me and she's home. I can actually hear the smile on her face, if you can appreciate that concept. She said that they promptly and courteously waited on her. They checked her tire and it was discovered that she had a rim leak due to a bent rim. Maybe done by a pothole. Anyway, they fixed this for her and did not charge her one penny! Do you know HOW RARE this is in this day and age when everyone is so greedy and me-oriented? We both needed this at this time. We needed our faith restored....needed to know that there are still some good people and good establishments out there.

So, all I can say is.....THANK YOU! BELLE TIRE, YOU ROCK! I will never be hesitant about recommending them to anyone. I wish more businesses cared about the customer like they do.

I hope things are going good, or as good as possible, for each of you in all of your little corners of the world. Times are hard for so many right now.....I'm sure each of us has our own little stories to tell. All I can say is to keep the faith that soon things will look brighter. I know its hard to do sometimes....but at least it doesn't cost anything and the rewards are so great.

How about you? Have you had any good experiences with a business lately that you'd like to share? Let us know so we can give them some business and help them prosper.

Yes, it is so rare to recieve really good customer service now, that it totally makes your day when it happens. These guys definitely deserve accolades for helping out a lady in distress!

Good stories? Not too many. When my kids turn on the charm and use their nice conversational manners, however, the service usually greatly improves when out and about. It's interesting...

Glad to be reading you again. Hang in there, Val. I think of you often. Be well.

I wonder how many hundreds (thousands?) of miles I'd have to drive to get to Belle Tire. I'd love to experience some good service somewhere.

Good things sometimes come from unexpected places. Glad your daughter was looked after.

well, the best thing to happen to me of late is, at Sam's I accidently left my pens there a few months prior.
At a million-to-one shot, I wandered up to the desk, and explained we live WAY out of town...the story of leaving the pens...
They opened a book, and sure enough, there it was.
$20 saved! They gave me the pens, and off I went to draw to my jeart's content!

Ah....

Here's another one, but, it wasn't a business so much.

Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood?
They had a guy named Ben Stein on who pointed out that we've all been hearing about the 8% unemployment and that almost 8% of homes were in foreclosure....
Then he spread this great big grin on his face and said "enough of the doomsday sayers! We have 92% EMPLOYMENT...(and the Sun came out) and over 92% of homeowners were making their payments (te clouds seperated, leaving blue skies)

That second bit was better news than the pens, I thought.

We were visiting in Ohio. A neighbor who keeps an eye on our place looked at one of our car doors that wasn't sitting right. This neighbor works at a body shop. He said, "You oughta bring your car to my shop." We said, "Well, we would, but there's no time. We're leaving tomorrow." So he just went "whump" on that door with his whole body. He's a short, muscular guy and that door was straightened right out! (We had tried to drive the car into the garage with that door open. Silly us.)

BTW, I didn't get back to my blog in time to thank you for your kind comment about my writing a memoir. Actually, I think the blog will be my memoir, but it's nice to think that maybe I could publish a memoir. Thanks so much.

What a nice story. I'm happy things worked out so well for your daughter. :-)
It is so nice when a business does something nice like that.
I may have a story to write soon about my brand new GE refrigerator and the top two shelves in the freezer that keep falling down. A man is coming this afternoon.

I always get excellent courteous service from my local Publix grocery store box boy. He always insists that he takes out my order to the car. The problem is that this cheerful young man is actually 92 years old. I feel guilty on hot days, but he won't take no for an answer. Honestly, this is true. Sometimes on his nights off he comes in to play his violin for the customers.

I know I commented here once already...good heavens- just another example of alzhiemers setting in?

Like I said before, and it was FIRST I might add...if anyone deserves any GOOD luck it is the both of you. Reading this made me happy. :)

Hope things are running as smoothly as possible friend. Hugs.

I think customer service has improved because FINALLY people are understanding that customers are important. I took my 10 year old nephew out for lunch last week and as we left he said, "Aunt Boxer, are they all nicer now because of the economy?" AHAHAHA. I told him, YES!
