Some problems......

I've had some eye problems for the last 3 weeks and just went to a specialist today....referred there by my ophthalmologist. Floaties (if you have 'em, you know what they are about....if you don't have them.....you probably will when you get OLD). Anyway I had a huge one that scared me so it had to be checked out.

I think I'm going to be ok. I've read so many eye charts in the last couple days, I should know all the letters by heart. Whenever I can't read a letter I always feel like I'm flunking a test at school or something. My vision has been blurred in one eye because of floaties and its frustrating beyond description....especially for someone like me who is constantly reading.

Anyway, I will have the test results tomorrow but I have to see the retina specialist again in 3 weeks to make sure I'm progressing as anticipated.

Thank you to all of you who kept the faith and kept on checking back here for a post. I appreciate that more than you know. I have been making the rounds as much as possible and reading.....with one eye no less. LOL Thank you also for the emails....you know who you are! I'll be back.......in just a few more days. Promise. (this gettin' old is the pits)....Oh well....keep smilin' anyway!!

Growing old IS NOT for the weak. I get a floater every once in a while, but they don't stay. Don't know why or how, but they do pop up and the DO dive one crazy. (Like I need any help in that department)

I have definitely wondered what you've been up to, and I'm sad to hear you are dealing with vision worries. Like you, I use my eyes constantly at work and home (computer 24/7 :-) and I am lost when my eyes get to irritated to function. John gets floaters now and then, and yes it is scary. Anyone who said getting older is fun was sure not telling the truth. I'd sooner fast forward to a hundred and get it over with! :-)) Glad they are taking good care of you though and sounds like everything will be ok soon. Keep us posted! Posted... get it? LOL

The physical side of aging sure is hell, and way worse than the mental. (You're as young as you feel!). Ummmm yea. BS. Sometimes I feel about eighteen in the brain but my body says otherwise in a big way.

Happy to see you back friend. Big, big hugs. :)

Some quotes I have heard "Getting old ain't for sissies" and "It's better than the alternative! :)"

It is best to get the floaties checked out, my Mom had cataracts growing on her eyes and had to have them removed more than once.

I am thinking it is hereditary, so I go as often as the eye dr. tells me to.

I hope yours is easily cleared up, good luck!

Was thinking back to when my boy used floaties. I guess history repeats itself in old age! I hope they go away quickly and you can see better. I keep increasing the strength of my reading glasses. Yes. Old age....ugh.

Been there. Had that. Been scared. It's been a long time since the first sparks flew (my symptom), but everything seems to be as OK as it can be.

Hope all is well with your eye.
No floaters for me, at least not yet!

I've been bothered by those troublesome floaties myself. What a nuisance they are. Especially out in the bright sun. I didn't realize age was a factor. Guess that explains mine.

Ironic that you are dealing with eye problems and I just found out Mon. with my routine eye exam that I have state 1 cataracs! Hey I am way to young for that nonsence, (soon to be 64) My brother gets floaters from time to time and then they don't bother for months. Think positive. I understand they are just little bits of debree that "floats" past your line of vision. Wonder if a thump on the head would make them float away? Just kidding!

Yes, I had 'em a month or two ago. Scary at first, but they disappeared before my recheck. Hope yours are soon okay, too.

Yeah, getting old is no ride in the park Val. I know your eye problem will be taken care of and you'll be fine...but while you're going through it, it's frustrating. I worry about my eyes sometimes. I know I need to go back to the eye doctor for a regular check-up....but haven't done it. My mom had macular degeneration, and I can only hope I don't have that to contend with in my future.

Glad you posted. I never realized that 'floaties' could be big, and a problem. Keep us abreast or your progress.

I realized the same about my eyes last night. I was out doing karaoke with friends and the print was so small in the books that I had a difficult time picking them up. It is time for reading glasses or bifocals. Neither of which I am particularly looking forward to. My eyes are in the middle range. I need glasses to see in the distance and obviously glasses to see up close, but can see fine somewhere right in between. Getting old sucks. Those things you have no control over. *sigh* Hope those floaties are gone and your eye sight is much better.

It doesn't just happen to us old people - I've had floaties for years and years and years.

My own mother has been going through severe eye problems the last few years and for about a year, almost completely lost her vision. She has always been an avid reader and crossword puzzler - suddenly, she couldn't see to do either, so Daddy took over and read for her, even reading the clues in the New York Times crosswrod and filling in the blanks for her. Thank goodness, after a couple of surgeries and many meds, she's now able to do her own puzzles with the help of a magnifying glass, and can read large print on her own.

Hoping your visit goes well and your floaties just float away!

The absolute worse thing about getting old is my eyesight...it is such a pain...always looking for my reading glasses even though I have 20 pairs..and yes, sometimes I am even wearing a pair while I am looking for them..lol...that is when you know you are getting old!

Hope it all works out for you!

I call them "garbage", and when I first went to the eye guy he thought I had torn my retina.

When the diabetes diagnosis came 8 years later, and me being 8 years older, sometimes I think I see spiders on the wall. YES!

Now they look like floating DNA results.
