Call me a pessimist but I'm the type of person who never rejoices when things are going right. To me, it's like thumbing your nose at the Fates.....daring them to screw you up. So my life seems to be always waiting for that "other shoe to fall"....even when things are going right.
And things were going along pretty good for a while. I dared not let myself think about it. Then one morning I went out to start my car and noticed a humming noise. I thought it might be the radio but it wasn't. So I backed out of my driveway, went one and a half miles to a busy intersection and when the light turned and I attempted to turn.....I could barely turn the wheel. My power steering was gone! Well, crap!
So I drove to work.....6 miles from that point and figured that I was low on fluid.....but then wondered why and so I figured I must have a leak. Well, one thing led to another and when it was checked, it was a leak all right but not as simple as a hose. It was leaking down by the rack and pinion.....I think those are the right words. But nevertheless, it means a major repair, taking some time to do it. My car has been at a friend's house for over a week while he looked for parts and then found time to work on it. He says I may have it back by Tuesday.....I certainly hope so.
Then my computer started acting up on me. Shockwave keeps crashing and I have NO idea why. I just have to reboot, which is a pain in the patootie.
Then yesterday it finally did warm up into the high eighties. It felt good, but was also humid, so I flipped on the central air. It is not working. I wasn't even surprised.
Sigh.

On the rare days I'm not in too much pain, and Joe asks how I feel - we have a code "look" that I give him. I'm not about to say it out loud because I do not want a heart attack or stroke to follow.
It's hard for people like us to experience even a wee bit of happiness, because it is SO short lived and followed quickly by trauma or terror.
I didn't expect your AC to work either. No surprise.
My mother always said bad news comes in threes. Looks like you are due for a turnaround in fortune.
Google "shockwave crash" - you may find your solution there. I saw a few posts dated April 2013 - looks like you are not alone. Best of luck!
Life can be just so totally annoying at times!!
@Peruby
Thanks for the info. I did what they said....now I wait and see. Yes, I do use Chrome. Thanks again!
Awww Val, this just made me want to cry. Like you, when ever things seem to be going along smoothly I hold my breath, because - well- because of things like this! They say bad things come in threes, so you are maxed out now and hopefully life will take a turn for the better. I'll sure be praying for you! Why don't you take your mind off it for a bit and drop by Two Shoes Tuesday with a post link sometime this week. I KNOW you do a bit of creative writing and as I recall, you were good at it! Would love to see you there! Hugs and hang on tight, life has a way of working things out. Why does it always seem to be another hit in the pocket though? Arrgghh!
I mistrust good times too. Haha. It's a shame. But when they are so fleeting, you gotta grab them and enjoy.
Isn't that the case. It's just one machine after the other. I figure if I don't think about it, mine will live on forever. cross fingers, knock on wood.
