Just a quickie.....

Yes, unfortunately, I had to have another shot. Finally, today, my eye has stopped complaining but its still all red. The eye doctor was very happy with things when he looked at all the images of my eye. He said the problem has almost completely reversed itself. This second shot should keep it from happening again. I'm still not seeing as well as I once could, but he's optimistic that my sight will improve with time and the distortion will go away. My next appointment is in 6 weeks.

We drove down there and back in freezing rain. Thank goodness my daughter is a good driver and I felt at ease with her behind the wheel. Because of the weather, school had been canceled and we had to take my granddaughter with us. She was very good. She had brought along about 1,900 Barbies to occupy her time there. We stopped on the way home and had brunch. By the time we finished, the numbness was wearing off and my eye was beginning to really hurt. I was glad we were only a mile away from home at that point.

My granddaughter took her test for her orange belt in Karate today and obtained it. She is one proud little girl......and we are very proud of her as well. She is FLOURISHING at her new school. She gets up in the morning and is anxious to go. At her old school, she hated going and would leave the house in tears every morning. They advised my daughter that she was failing, yet at this new school, she has tested right at grade level and one grade higher in reading. I think she was so upset all the time at the old school that she had given up and wasn't even trying anymore. I'm so grateful that we got her out of there. Its awful to see a child so unhappy....especially when you can fix it. One of my daughter's friends is also pulling her two children out of that school. I really do think that things need to be investigated there. And another thing....KUMON, where my granddaughter has been enrolled since last fall, has gotten so overcrowded that they have had to move into bigger quarters! Parents are dissatisfied with the public school system and their lack of interest in actually TEACHING. More and more of them are doing just what my daughter did....enrolling their children in programs that will actually teach them something. I suspect something will be done very soon to improve our inefficient and defective school system.....which, in years past was one of the best in the state. Parents are not going to put up with it much longer.

I think Smocha may be right about it being Firefox that's causing my problems with Blogger. Even though a lot of you have said you can see the Followers pictures.....I cannot. But they are all still listed when I look them up on my account. So, obviously more research is necessary. Hopefully one day I'll sign on and they will mysteriously be there. LOL

Hope everyone is doing OK in your little corners of the world. Here, we are anxiously awaiting flowers and green grass. Even though the calendar says its Spring....Ma Nature has a different idea. Its 24 out right now. Keep smilin'! (so much for a "quickie" post....sorry, I just got to rambling.)

I've heard a lot of complaints about Firefox. Maybe you should try something else. And I'm glad you eye is getting better...but a shot???? You are braver than I am.

Just thinking about getting shots in the eye would send my anxiety levels to the moon! But I am so glad it's working and getting better and soon you'll be able to see well again. I've been struggling with an ear infection causing loss of hearing in that ear for almost two weeks now and I know how frustrating such limitations on our life and work feel. Kudos to your granddaughter... and to your daughter for getting her out of the bad school system. A change like that can make all the difference in her life! Spring here means blowing dirt, days in the 80's and cool nights. Wish it would stop at that and not soon be getting hotter! Take care, it was nice to get this update!

I am excited to see a post from you. Yea for the eye getting better but oh, it sounds awful getting to that point.

I am so happy that your granddaughter is loving her new school. Kids don't have it as easy as us adults want to believe it is. School and other kids and the drama that goes with it all can be very rough. My heart went out to her before when she was struggling so badly, so YEA for new beginnings! And ORANGE belts!

Happy Sunday. Do something wonderful just for you, okay? It's time. :)

Lots of hugs and love. :)

I have another blogger I am reading, who is complaining about Firefox. I am not having issues, but there are updates recently to FF. You might also try downloading the 4.0 version and setting that up.

Help/About should give you the version of FF you are using. Mine is at 3.6.16 currently. Right above the About Firefox is the "check for updates" if you don't have automatic updates turned on.

I have been using Seamonkey. A sister to FF. You can download it - just google "download seamonkey".

Good luck!

OMG...a shot in the eye! I can't even get mascara on my eyelashes. My optometrist advised me that I have the very beginning of a cataract and I am already obsessing about it.

So, you are also having cold weather. It was 22-degrees here in Central Jersey during yesterday morning's dog walk...after some beautiful 70-degree weather about 10 days ago. False hope...

As for the school situation, it reminds me of an awful teacher that I had in fifth grade - around 1959. After I came home with fingernail marks on my arm where she grabbed me, my mother tried to have me transferred to another fifth grade. The principal told my mother that too many kids had already transferred out, so he couldn't do anything! Things seemed to improve a little, so they may have talked to her. It also made me feel better to have all those adults who believed me and stood up for me.

You did not ramble on, you updated us on all kinds of important stuff. Glad your granddaughter is loving the new school. Sounds like something is very wrong at her old school! I hope your eye just gets better and better! Have a great week!

I finally figured out that Firefox was the bane of my existence and switched to GOOGLE CHROME. As for your eye...when your eye hurts, it HURTS bad, even if it's not "that bad". Hard to concentrate on anything BUT * THAT * PAIN.

Good news all around. : )
I use Firefox and have never had a problem.

No problems with Firefox either. I'd switch though, since you are having problems.

I hope the second shot solves the problem in time. Whenever I make a wish for anything, it's always for health. Probably most of us wish for that as we get older.

So glad your granddaughter was able to change schools. The education system is in bad shape all around!

Good to hear from you and the news that your Dr's visits are paying off for you. Yes, our school system across the country could use an "uplift". Keep at'em

I am sorry that your granddaughter had a bad experience at her old school, and so glad that she's in a new school.

I hope your eye will heal according to the doctor's expectations. Do you know how many gorillas it would take to hold me down for a shot in the eye?

Congratulations to your granddaughter and also to her mom for getting her out of that bad school situation. There's no better advocate for a child than a mother who listens, observes, and takes action when it's necessary.
