Lucky me.....

Somehow.....the Republicans think I am a straight ticket republican and the Democrats think I am a straight ticket democrat. I have been getting so many political notices and bulletins and newsletters from both parties that I am just about ready to bang my head against the wall. I especially love the ones where they nonchalantly ask you to donate $500, but if you can't manage that, please consider $250. They talk as if that's such a small amount. I guess it is to those that have plenty.

And that is just ONE facet of my exceptional luck. I've also been getting scads of phone calls. Is that a word....scads? Well, it sounds right so I'm leaving it. You get the idea anyway. I pick up the phone and its a recording telling me all about how bad the republicans are. Then 20 minutes later I pick up the phone to a recording telling me how bad the democrats are. I figure its just a matter of time and I'll be getting stuff from the "Independent party" or the "green party" or the Mickey Mouse party!!

The primary is in August so I have about 6 weeks of this garbage......then it will be coming down strong for the November election. I'm so fed up with it all. It doesn't seem like our elected officials do anything they say they will and once in office, they don't seem to care about any of us until its time for re-election. The one and only time in my life that I contacted my Congressman to help me with something I wasn't even given the consideration of a reply from him personally. He had his assistant talk with me and they were not even able to help me with my request. I'm remembering all that, by the way.

I think a lot of us voters are finally remembering a whole bunch of things. Bad news for some of those now in office. You all keep smilin'.....makes everyone wonder what you've been up to.

I let everything go on the recorder....unless I know who it is through the caller id..Honestly, I can't stand any of it anymore..a politician is a politician..no matter what color tie he wears...I don't think there is one person that will do something for the common person that is trying..why it is so impossible I don't know...corporations are running our country now and every elected official has his / her hand out for a piece of the pie....I hate to say it but my husband and myself take care of ourselves and our family first and don't get involved with the rest...

I'm neither a Rep or Dem...I'm an American. And I will vote for who ever is best for my country. Right now it seems to be the Rep's. The Dem's have gone Socialist and I hate that.

Politics have become very sad. We had our primary here this month. I had to change my voting status from Independant and choose a party to vote in it. Now I have to change it back.

How are you doing? It's Thursday. Enough said.

Hugs. :)

I hate, hate, hate those calls Val. I don't pick up anything that I don't recognize on caller ID anymore. I mean it...I hate being bugged by calls at night...or anytime for that matter. I signed up for that 'Do Not Call' registry...but I'm constantly getting calls anyway. What good does that registry do?

Oh...have some fun with them and teach them a lesson, too.
In the "donations please" letters, carefully remove the postage paid envelope from the rest of it, take a pair of scissors and trim it down to fit INSIDE the postage paid envelope, and, I usually take a big black marker and write on the crapola, "I don't believe in buying the government" and put it all back inside and ship it on at them.
Took about a year, but, haven't gotten any Republican requests anymore. Now Pelosi is shipping me her money requests...(Not even my state) and, well...same gig.
Hope they like that apple.

I don't know if the "no-call" list will save you from the phone trolls.
If not, there are ways to deal with that, too.

I mean, I'm not suggesting you pull out the "girl" card, but, what the heck...
Start crying in the middle of them asking and make up some lame story about how a meteor just crashed into your house last night and hit your refrigerator, and you don't know how you'll replace all the food.
(you can tell right off, these people do not like me)
If it's a dial one for donations, dial one and talk about how hot and muggy the weather is where you are, and ask what the weather is like where they are.
The good thing about waiting through the recordings is that sometimes dial two is "take me off your list"

Course, sometimes when I answer the phone and they ask if I'm at home...I just dial two right then and hang up.
d=))
This has been a PSA to get rid of bothersome, money grubbing government officials.

Wouldn't you love to go back in time and see how the Government was originally set to run? How well the representatives back in the day listened to the people.

I've donated a whole $25.00 to a candidate here and there, but that is all!

I really wanted to help them win. I hate it that most times donating only seems to lead to more requests for ANY amount of money.

Dude(ette), I already gave you what I probably shouldn't have!

Most of my political calls come from one Republican congressman (I didn't vote for him) inviting me to participate in a town hall meeting. I didn't like his political ads and certainly don't want to listen to any more of his propaganda. On the other hand, I'm a registered Democrat and never get calls from Democratic candidates. I wouldn't particularly like to take their calls either, but it would be nice to know they're paying attention.

When I hear Joe answer the phone and say: "Hello".....pause.....then "hello" again, I want to kill him. Whenever you answer the phone, there is a computer on the other side that snaps to attention, but it doesn't activate until it hears the second "signal" which is the second "hello". I avoid a lot by saying hello once, then hanging up.
